Toronto, March 20, 2025 – Northbridge Insurance is proud to announce that Caneda Transport Ltd. is the National Winner of the 2025 Northbridge Insurance Transportation Safety Award. The regional winners are Challenger Motor Freight Inc. (Ontario), Groupe Morneau Inc. (Quebec), and Classic Freight Transport Ltd. (Atlantic). The winners were all chosen from a group of finalists who were selected in each region based on their commitment to safety and excellence in the transportation industry.
Launched in 2021, the Northbridge Insurance Transportation Safety Award was created to recognize carriers with industry-leading management practices. The award is now a notable achievement within the industry, due to the continued engagement and support from carriers over the past five years. With more than 70 years of experience helping transportation companies manage risks on and off the road, Northbridge understands the dedication required to uphold the highest safety standards. As the award reaches this milestone, Northbridge remains focused on the future of the award and how it can help strengthen connections with customers and drive safety excellence in the industry.

Each year, finalists, regional winners, and a national winner are selected based on several factors. These criteria include the carrier’s achievements on Northbridge’s Transportation Best Practices Profile, which benchmarks safety performance using 100 per cent Canadian trucking data. The assessment evaluates their commitment to compliance, driver management, and risk management. Their on-road performance is also measured, including metrics such as crash trends, collisions per million miles, high-cost type collisions, visibility-related collisions, and carrier profile performance. Industry engagement at regional and national levels, as well as strong collaboration with Northbridge in claims management, reporting, and mitigation, are also considered.

To be eligible for the award, carriers must have been policyholders for at least two consecutive years, demonstrated a company-wide safety commitment with a continued focus on improvement, and shown great collaboration as a Northbridge Insurance partner.
